Our Staff

Mestre Acordeon - one of the most influential contemporary mestres of capoeira and President of the Capoeira Arts Foundation - supervises a local staff of capoeira instructors who teach the children throughout the year. Additionally, we have music, biology and environmental educators who, along with a social assistant, are helping to broaden the children’s knowledge of nature, social skills, and the arts. All teachers and volunteers serve as positive role models, each with a unique perspective on life, heath, and what it means to be a well-functioning member of society. Many of our future volunteers will come from the United States; consequently, they will participate in a cultural exchange with the children, learning as much as they will be teaching.
